Her Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al Khamis Kanoo, the founder of Abu Dhabi Music; Arts Foundation, emphasized the importance of interest in music and arts in the UAE in the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day at Beach Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
Ms. Kanoo was one of the speakers in the third and last panel titled “Opportunities for Professional Advancement in the Middle East”. When talking about her passion for music and art, Mrs. Kanoo advised Emiratis and their families to work in art and culture. She also pointed out the importance of reform as she said “believe in yourselves and support the government”. She believes in culture and art and believes that it is essential to change our views on them saying “we can do it”, meaning that we can change what we think of music to the better as it is not all bad. Mrs. Kanoo’s points in the panel focused more on asking people to believe in music and art and how much good they can do to people.
Her Excellency is the first woman from the GCC to speak at the First World Forum on Music by the UNESCO affiliated International Music Council, Los Angeles, USA. She is the daughter of a Saudi businessman and a Syrian mother.
