The Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) joined forces with several local universities to launch UAE’s first students PR day on the 1st of November. The event was held in Dubai’s Women College from 9am to 4pm and almost 200 students attended the event from HCT colleges in Dubai and Fujairah, Zayed University in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Middlesex University Dubai Campus and American University in Sharjah. This event aims to help students map out there goals and set a career path to follow after graduating. It also gives them a glimpse of what to expect when they start working by interviewing students that already got the chance to experience working in the PR sector. The event included different workshops and seminars that concentrated on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), social media, media relations and employee engagement done by speakers from the top professionals in the PR field. MEPRA’s Executive director, Rebecca Hill stated that "It is in our interests as current practitioners to ensure that students enter the workforce with realistic expectations, more informed as to their career prospects and more equipped at finding a job that suits them.”
